    So Much For PRIVACY!!!!!!!!!

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit the map link, MapQuest will get a map to the person's house.

If this doesn't bother your or worry you, then no need to read any further.

It's a nationwide reverse telephone book. I have tried this and it’s not a hoax. Imagine my surprise when my phone number pulled up my address, then gave a link to an inveractive map that actually showed, in full color, the front of my house.

I view this as not only a privacy issue but also a safety issue. What if a child gives out his/her phone number? Someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives.

What if you mention (on your blog, at work, etc.), that you're going out of town (or something)? Getting your information with full color photos has never been easier! The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped go to: Google.com and enter your phone number in the 'search' box. If a screen opens with a link titled “Phonebook”, Google has your information.

If you want your information removed or blocked, then click on the 'Phonebook' link and that will take you to a screen and a link where you can “Request to have your name removed…”

Also note that removing from Google can take 24-28 hours and DOES NOT automatically remove your information from other providers (i.e., SmartPages.com, WhitePages.com, etc.)

    Until Next time...Happy Needling!!!
