Happy Holidays
to everyone, no matter how you celebrate the "Season". DH and I are ready to take a breather. The storage unit is full, the house is cleaned, power washed, and the windows done.
Today we finalize the deal and list our home for sale. Then we have just a bit of last minute shopping to do this afternoon. DS arrives tomorrow morning and the tree goes up tomorrow night.

Hearts & Thank You's
This morning I finished working Linda's birthday heart. This heart wraps up a year long project called Sharing Our Hearts (SOH) at CQForNewbies (CQN). This has been such a fun project. I was lucky to get my hearts and goodies early on. And I admire and respect every one of the ladies in this group who kept their commitment throughout the year.
I hope you like it Linda. It's going in the mail tomorrow morning. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! And thank you for being such a wonderful hostess.
I would also like to say THANK YOU to Pat Winter for this lovely charm and note card. Although, Pat should be the one receiving the THANKS for her devotion to the Comfort Doll project.
(I did receive this lovely surprise some time ago and I do apologize for not posting it sooner. I don't know where my manners are. On vacation, I guess. SORRY!!!)

STS - Winter update
This is a before and after of Robin's winter block. Robin did a great job with this block before sending it to me. I apologize that the photo doesn't do it the justice it deserves.
Starting from left to right, at the top, I added: the pink French Knots to her Feather stitched vine and beaded flowers trail, and the white Chain stitched half circles with the gold beads below it.
The colored beads to her green Fly stitches and the small green butterfly below the lace flower motif. Also the blue ribbon with the pink Chevron stitch and the blue beads.
The gold French Knots above her red Herringbone stitches, and the gold filled Lazy Daisy stitches with the blue Straight stitch snowflakes below.
The burnt orange Blanket/Buttonhole stitch (variation) and Straight stitch combination with white beads and gold cylinder bead pieces, and the Whipped Back stitch for the hand embroidered "Winter." And finally, the pink beads along the edge of her blue ribbon.
I would also like to extend a special thank you to Sharon B for making her wonderful Stitch Dictionary available for reference.

Latest Happenings...
We went to Utah over Thanksgiving. We have a timeshare in Park City that we seldom get to use lately. And while it's quite a drive 'down the hill' it does make for a really nice out of the way retreat while vacationing.
This trip was extra special because we got a chance to have dinner and visit with our DS. I still feel so lost without him around the house. I wish I had better prepared myself for the day he would leave. Oh well, I'm getting that wake up call now. LOL.
Anyway, he looks great. He seems to be very happy and he had lots to share with us. The biggest surprise was his 'new' truck. WOW!!! Quite an accomplishment in just a few short weeks. It has finally dawned on me that I spent so much time pampering him and making things easy for him that I totally failed to see how much he needed some independence.
These are pictures of 'Historic' Main Street. I just love the little old-fashion looking store fronts in the older part of town. They line both sides of the street for about a 1/2 mile and are just full of cutesy little shops, pricey boutiques, eateries, and pubs. The newer part of Main Street just doesn't have small town feel to it with its more modern architecture.
We usually start at the bottom of town and walk up. That way it's downhill on the way back. And of course there is the Trolley for those days when it's just too cold, or walking isn't appealing. LOL.
I am always amazed by the mountains after being away from them for so long. Unless you're actually there, it's difficult to really appreciate their size. And 'steep' can become a very foreign concept. This farm house and barn are massive, yet it's dwarfed by the mountains behind it. And check out these houses. The two in the center (behind the tree) are built into a vertical rock wall.
We also ran across these curious looking homes/apartments during our travels in Park City. They struck me as something right out of the Twilight Zone movie. Look how crooked they are. Somehow they just don't look safe to me. DH and I kept waiting for the nursery rhyme "little crooked man" to come walking out of one of them.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at my DB's home. In fact, the whole day was really nice. We don't get to visit often enough. And the kids are growing like weeds! I feel like I'm missing so much from one trip to another.
Another bonus on this trip was getting a chance to meet Cat and her DH, Gary. They are just the nicest people. We discovered over drinks and munchies that we had a great deal in common. Far more than I would have expected. From raising boys, to motorcycles, to throwing darts.
And very sadly, also including the recent loss of dear pets to spleen cancer. The good news on that is that they have a new little girl furbaby to fill their hearts with joy. They've named her Annie and lovingly refer to her as "The Little Pill."
Thanks to Mindy, I've found myself on the constant look-out for "COW" stuff. So, when I saw this in Park City I just had to share it with her. This is inside the Java Cow coffee house/ice cream parlor/gift shoppe. The entire place is full of any kind of cow item you can imagine. I even picked up a couple of little goodies for her. Now, if she will send me her address I will mail them off to her!!!!!
Saturday morining we wrapped things up, boarded our plane and headed back to flat country. And on Sunday morning DH and I were up working on the crossword puzzle with Fritz settled comfortably into his favorite chair. Awe, it's good to be home!

A FOB-ulous Thank You
I made these little scissor fobs for all the ladies who participated in my 'first swap'. It was a dream to hostess. Everyone met their deadlines, kept me in the loop, shared photos, etc. We had 29 participants (with 30 blocks) and it went smooth as silk. Some might call that luck but I know with these ladies that it's just the way they do things!
It was really important to me to be able to give them all something that they could hold on to and use and would help them remember this project. The closeness and communication. The building of friendships. Something that really says, "THANK YOU, this was a group effort!"
Each fob starts with a braided cell phone charm chain in one of 10 colors, it has at least three beads and/or charms on it, a clasp for hooking it to your scissors, and at the end they all have a little Italian Charm of a Parrot. Needless to say, each of them are a OOAK (one of a kind) piece.
As it turns out, making the fobs was a really fun project for me. Much more difficult than I expected it to be. My old fingers and eyes just don't do 'little stuff' like they used to. LOL. Looking at the finished project as a "BUNCH", it was well worth all the dirty words (only joking)!

This and That...UPDATED (11/16)
Gosh, it seems like I've been gone for so long. Sometimes it requires stepping away from the groups, blogs, and the computer to get things done.
Yesterday I got the completed blocks mailed back to their owners from the Season To Season (STS) Fall block share. These ladies did such a tremendous job on these blocks. It was really quite an honor to be able to see each one in person throughout the process.
Tomorrow I'll be mailing out the 1/2 worked blocks for the STS Winter block share. And again, the blocks are looking just incredible. These blocks will be with their partners until the first of January, 2008. So there will be plenty of time to get photos posted and links to their blogs or other sites.
Speaking of mailing blocks....do you have any idea how much money is pumped into the postal system? I can't even imagine. But the estimated cost of sending blocks back and forth for the Fall block share added up to over $170. Good grief! It was probably more than that considering International shipping. I'm so thankful that these ladies were so generous in helping out.
In addition to being so great to send their postage, envelopes, gifts and notes to their swap partners, they showered me with the most incredible hostess gifts. And while it's never required, it is always appreciated!
Just look at all these goodies!!!! Boy, or boy I can't wait to start using them (big smile)!!!!!
