Victorian Ladies DYB - Round Five

This is Cathy K's block, and the final block that I will work in this RR. Cathy allowed us to choose the placement of each silkie as well as the piece of vintage lace that she included with each of her blocks.


The brown ribbon is a piece from my mother's stash, the lace at the bottom of the block is from a vintage, lace curtain/sash panel. Some of the threads were gifted to me from good friends, and some of the charm and embellishment pieces are from previous retreat gifts.

I hope Cathy likes my additions to her blocks.

Victorian Ladies DYB - Round Four

This is the block that I chose to work for Hideko. She asked us to keep to a Goth type theme for this project. Everyone has done such a nice job with these blocks. We don't often get a chance to work with much black lace and ribbon, which I LOVE. So, this block was a bit of a treat!

Well, Hideko's set of blocks are now in Cathy's hands. She will make her choice of blocks, work it, then send all of Hideko's beautiful blocks back home to her. I am anxiously awaiting Cathy's blocks, which will be the last of the blocks that I will work for this round robin. That also means that my little darlings should be headed home soon - YAY!!!!

Victorian Ladies DYB - Round Three

Tonight I finished the third of five blocks that I will work on in this round robin. This Rengin's block. She lives in Istanbul, Turkey and this is our first time that we have gotten to work together.

I had no idea what I was going to do with it when I chose it but in the end it really surprised me. I grabbed the dyed lace as a starting point and I guess it really did set the tone. I'm very happy with it and I hope Rengin is too!

I should be able to grab a photo of my third block shorty, and then I'll update this post. I believe Rengin is the next to work on my block too.

12/08/12 - Update. This is the block that Rengin worked for me. I am so happy with it. It's so beautiful and very much in keeping with the style that Cathy chose as a starting point.

Victorian Ladies DYB - Round Two

This is the work I did on Lisa's block. This was a fun block to work. The little girls are so cute! It's difficult to see in the photo but in the upper right hand corner there is a tiny hanger with a ladies boot, handbag, and parasol.

This is the block that Hideko worked for me. I really like the how these blocks are turning out. I really appreciate that they are being worked in such a cohesive manner. It will be really nice to have a 'set' when they get back home.

Victorian Ladies DYB - Round One

Connie's blocks are the first to arrive at my house in this DYB. And this is the block that I chose to work on.

Connie's blocks are made to form a circle when finished. The 'wedge' that I chose sits at the top, center of the circle. The photos on her blocks are all women in her family, who lived in the Victorian Era. This particular lady is named Valentine.

This is a photo of the work Cathy did on my block. She said that the purple lady spoke to her, and she has done a lovely job with it!


Well, I just received Lisa's blocks in the mail. It's time to chose one and get started on it!

Victorian Ladies DYB

Good Morning,
Just popping in to add a photo of my naked blocks for the upcoming CQI Victorian Ladies DYB (do your block) round robin that begins on September 1st.

This round robin will have 6 participants, each piecing 6 blocks, 6" square. As the blocks are mailed out, each of the participants will chose a block to work on, with each person working the entire block. The remaining block will be completed by the block maker.

I will post photos as the rotation progresses.
