Domains Registered
OMG, I forgot completely to mention it....but I finally got my domain names registered. I took 4 of them, all ".com" addresses. And all slight variations of each other. I must say that it was a weird experience for the most part. The good thing is that now I don't have to worry that someone will swoop in and take "MY" name before I actually get around to using it. LOL.
Catching Up....
- Life and changes
Wow, I didn't realize how long I've been out of touch with my blog, my groups, and my bloglines, etc. Finding that delicate balance between the time for family and home, and also for friends and personal endeavors is a tougher than I thought it would be. It could be that I've decided to take on too much. Or maybe just making too many changes at once.
I'm in the process of converting the last 15+ years of NetScape (phone books, bookmarks, email, etc.) to IE. Even though I still think that IE is stupid (at times), it beats the HELL out of what NetScape has been doing to me lately. It's really difficult leaving my comfort zone but I don't have much choice. Since my DH and DS use IE, I am more inclined to go along. And even though they don't use COMPUTER but continuity is convenient on a "Home Network."
I've also broken down and added "Identities" to my computer. I figured if I was going to get serious about starting a small home business, it would benefit me NOT TO use the 'administrator' settings globally. I'm sure after I get it all tweaked out, having separate settings and folders will be very nice. Fingers crossed!
However, in the process of making that conversion, I started having problems with the version of WordPerfect and QuatroPro that I was using. So I uninstalled it and upgraded. Those kinks will probably take forever to resolve! Compatible can be a subjective term. ARGGGGG. I could use Word but I don't like it. I generally avoid it when possible. But my DH assures me that "the whole world uses Word." Hmmmmmm. I'm not convinced.
I got my hair cut off on January 29th. Well, not all of it. It's still about 8" below my shoulders but I did say, "BYE-BYE" to 16" or so. I decided to get the final remaining perm, dyes, and 'frizz' removed. And with the humidity just around the corner, it's going to be much cooler.
Now that I see this in print I have to wonder if I'm not marginally insane! Or perhaps, completely! Good grief, I'm sure not making life any easier on myself, am I? LOL
Now my daily 'duties' are complete and I've decided that I am WAY ready for a break. It's time to have some fun - IT'S TIME to BLOG!!!!!
- Sharing Our Hearts (SOH)
Lots of goodies have been arriving in the mail recently. February is my month for the CQForNewbies (CQN) SOH swap. I'm supposed to receive a total of 11 of these precious hearts from the wonderful ladies in our group. Each one of them is so unique and special. So far, I've received 5 of them and absolutely adore them all. Here's where they came from:
CandiShe does such a wonderful job with SRE and the bead work is just gorgeous.
CharleneLook at the buttonhole wheels. And can you believe this geisha? I think it's wonderful, especially since it's all on pink!
LoriWhat a wonderful combination of stitches with the gold and flower button surrounded by leaves.
PeggyThis tree is magnificent. I am in awe of the contour and depth of the trunk.
SusanThis is a great spider web. There is also a tiny spider in it. Too cute!
Thank you so much ladies. I know there was a lot of time and HEART put into each one of these. I appreciate it very much. I will treasure them!
-Chains of Hearts (COH)
I've also received a beautiful swap heart from Jo in the Chains of Hearts (COH) group. She does such wonderful work. It's hard to see but the center of the spider web has a grommet in it. I never would have thought of something like that. That's why I enjoy checking out her blog. There's always something fun and interesting.

This is the embellishing that I did on Rebecca's block.
Well, I guess that's it for now. I'm going to see how much of my blogroll I can get through before CSI starts at 9PM. Have a good night.

A CQ Poem - Repost from 09/02/06
(I just really like the poem)
A Crazy Quilt
They do not make them any more,
For quilts are cheaper at the store
Than woman's labor, though a wife
Men think the cheapest thing in life.
But now and then a quilt is spread
Upon quaint old walnut bed,
A crazy quilt of those days
That I am old enough to praise.
Some woman sewed these points and squares
Into a pattern like life's cares.
Here is a velvet that was stong,
The poplin that she wore so long,
A fragment from her daughter's dress,
Like her, a vanished loveliness;
Old patches of such things as these,
Old garments and old memories.
And what is life? A crazy quilt;
Sorrow and joy, and grace and guilt,
With here and there a square of blue
For some old happiness we knew;
And so the hand of time will take
The fragments of our lives and make,
Out of life's remnants, as they fall,
A thing of beauty, after all.
They do not make them any more,
For quilts are cheaper at the store
Than woman's labor, though a wife
Men think the cheapest thing in life.
But now and then a quilt is spread
Upon quaint old walnut bed,
A crazy quilt of those days
That I am old enough to praise.

COH Swap Heart #9
This heart will go to Jo in NZ. It will go in the mail on Monday morning! The embroidery on the floral portion didn't turn out quite like I had planned. In fact, it looks kind of funky. I still think it will be okay, though. I think Jo understands funky. At least I hope so. LOL.
I can hardly believe how much I'm getting done the last few days. Some of it is budgeting my time but I think more than that, it's my state of mind. Thanks for all of your comments, words of encouragement, and understanding.

Fairy Tale RR
- Candi's Nemo Block
Yippee!!! Progress...oh yeah, oh yeah.
This is the embellishing that I did to Candi's Nemo block. This block comes to me as part of a Fairy Tale R&R with the CQForNewbies sub group: Crazy4CQ.
This is one of those projects I didn't think I would get to. Gosh, it's amazing what you can get done when you actually sit down and down something. LOL. I even got Jo's swap heart pieced and partially embellished. Now, I'm anxiously awaiting to receive Rebecca's Fairy Tale block.
Time's up.....I'm outta here!!!!!!

Cutting back... and Lurking :-(
Does this look familiar? I bet to a good many of you, it does. And believe it or not, this was me too. Or becoming very near to it. Between email, groups, swaps, newsletters, blogs, etc., just getting through my 'computer stuff' was taking me hours. I don't know why it took me so long to realize where all of my time was going. All I knew was that I just can't get anything done. There just isn't enough time! DUH!So what's my point? (I see questions marks) Well, I'm going to be some what of a "LURKER" for awhile. I'm only limiting my internet and computer time. I'm not dropping off of the face of the planet. I will still get to my email and to blogroll but just not as often.
2007 is kicking my butt. It's not that I can't keep up. That I can't eat the elephant one bite at at time. It's that I can't decide which bite to take. So, I don't take ANY. NOTHING, NADA!!!! I'm getting no where (and fast).
Among other things, I have some 'life happens' things going on and I need to attend to them. I'm still not smoking. (Yay!) But it's still a challenge and lately my head just hasn't been where I'm used to having it. I need to rectify that situation.
Some of you have heard, or have noticed, that I'm trying to eek out a small (emphasis here) home business. Something not just 'this side' of a hobby. Something that I can build a reputation on. A business that I can have long term, and operate from virtually anywhere. And for as simple as that might sound to start a "craft" business, it isn't. I've discovered that setting up a business is fairly complex. And trust me, you don't want to do it wrong. Maybe I'm making it more difficult that it needs to be but I don't think so. It's just not 'a breeze' to do. So, I need time to sort through it all.
I'm also hoping that spending my time a little more productively right now will help me meet the deadlines I'm struggling with. Timely manner is becoming an oxymoron. And that doesn't work for me. (I actually have an issue with that - just FYI) And it would be nice to have some photos to post again some time!!! Especially since I have every intention of continuing with the TSTC.
Feel free to visit, leave a comment, etc. I'll be LURKING more often....but I'm not gone!

Angel for the New Year
Cloth Doll Challenge (2007).
The challenge was to make an "Angel doll representing your hopes for the year 2007!" Sherry Goshon generously donated the angel pattern for this challenge. And it was hosted by ClothDollPatterns.
Alas, another challenge I missed out on. Gosh, there are just too many. But the dolls that were created are just a delight! I am always so fascinated with the different ideas that these artists come up with. They are divided up into 2 categories, and you are welcome to vote on them. Voting is open until Monday, February 5th.
Email your vote to:
noelwolfman@clothdollpatterns.com. Type "Vote" in the subject line. And then list the number of the entry you're voting for in the body. Be sure to note your category. There will also be a "Designer's Choice" prize awarded by Sherry Goshon.
These dolls are fantastic. You really must go take a look at them!

Handbag Games & Free Patterns
I received this GAMES link in with my January newsletter from StudioKatDesigns. And I thought I would share it with you. There are four games that are kind of fun to play around with. She also offers a great free pattern for a passport holder and luggage tag.
COH.Swap Heart Mailed
It's finally in the mail! It has taken me the longest time to get this heart finished. Too much going on, I guess.
It's a darn good thing that Ati is such a patient person. And also that she has been distracted by her recent 'fame' from her write up in CQMagOnline.
~~~~Congrats, ATI~~~~
If you would like to see the swap heart that I received from Ati, it's in my 01/25/07 post.
My next swap is with Jo. She has promised to hold Heart #52 for me. Isn't it lovely?
Fritz & Bella
I just wanted to post some photos of my fur babies, Fritz (black & silver) and Bella (white). With all of the rain and cold weather we've been having they have been pretty much confined to the house. They are so looking forward to warmer, drier weather so that they can fetch the ball and chase the squirrels.
But for now, just looking out the window will have to do. How sad is that?
A little tidbit on Bella...She's not allowed to stand on the table. So, she is very careful to keep her hind feet on the sofa. That way she's not really breaking the rules. LOL.
